GRYFFINDOR
Gryffindor is the house that Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville were sorted into. Minerva McGonagall was the head of Gryffindor house and was also the transfiguration professor. Godric Gryffindor was the founder of this house and he valued students that were brave and determined. Gryffindor’s colours are scarlet and gold and the animal that represents the house is a lion. The ghost for Gryffindor is Nearly Headless Nick!

Did you know that Godric Gryffindor had a HUGE fight with his best friend at the time Salazar Slytherin about pure blood wizards and witches?
SLYTHERIN
Slytherin was the house that Draco Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange, Regulus Black and Voldemort were sorted into. Severus Snape is the head of this house and the potions professor. The founder of this House was Salazar Slytherin he wanted pure blood wizards and witches that were ambitious and cunning and he didn’t want to accept muggle-born students into Hogwarts. The Slytherin colours are emerald and silver and the animal that represents this house is a serpent. Their house ghost is the Bloody baron!
FUN FACT
Slytherin house isnt all about blood purity like Tom Riddle, Dolores Umbridge, Severus Snape and more were half-bloods!
Ravenclaw
Ravenclaw was the house that Luna Lovegood, Cho Chang, Gilderoy Lockhart and Quirinus Quirrell were all sorted into. The head of this house is Filius Flitwick and he is also the charms professor. The founder of this house was Rowena Ravenclaw she valued students who were wise and intelligent. The house colours in the book were Blue and bronze but in the movies they changed it to blue and silver. The animal that represents them is an eagle but some people mistaken it for a raven. The Ravenclaw ghost is Helena Ravenclaw (aka the grey lady).

Rowena Ravenclaw chose the location for hogwarts and designed it!
HUFFELPUFF
Huffelpuff was the house that Newt Scamander, Cedric Digory, Suson bones and Hannah Abbot were sorted into. Pomona Sprout is the head of Hufflepuff house and also the herbology professor. The founder of this House was Helga Hufflepuff and she wanted those who were kind and loyal to everyone and she didn’t mind if she had to take in students that didn’t fit the traits of the other houses. The Hufflepuff colours are yellow and black and the animal that represents this house is a badger. The ghost for this house is called the Fat Friar!
Fun Fact
The animal that was going to represent Hufflepuff was a bear but later on J.K. Rowling changed it to a badger!
